Having access to the actual evidence photographs, showing the real scenes depicted in the film, made for a fascinating opportunity to use them as the basis for the title designs.  In each case we used a stylised device to showcase them, each based on typical 1980s technology of the time.

In the opening sequence, we portray the scenes and titles, as if seen via cctv monitors, recorded on video tape, with all its inherent glitches, noise and hum.

As the end sequences also required the inclusion of epilogues and photographs of the different characters in the story, it was decided to utilise the ‘state of the art’ information format of the time – microfiche.  The animation picks up on the human qualities of the microfiche reader, never perfectly steady and occasionally lifting off the focus plane or adjusting position.
